The Ghost of Madness

During my last semester in grade 12, I had the opportunity and unknowing privilege of being in a particular class called "Challenges and Changes in Society". Now, whether it was the content in the, what seemed like, endless articles and news stories we had to endure and comment on... or the outstanding teacher who thought us the ins and outs (and even the arounds) of particular themes such as human rights, laws, pharmacology, and mental illness just to name a few... this course was such an eye opener for me and really expanded my minds capabilities and the way I see and perceive the world (Mr. Rempel warned us [;). This astonishing acrylic on canvas painting (by Ion Vincent DAnu), in turn relates to the course as I unexpectedly came across it in my extensive research for my final presentation regarding mental disabilities. After digging a bit deeper to uncover more about the piece, I found a gallery dedicated to the art produced by mentally disabled patients around the world.. and was amazed to find much more that I felt moved by. This here, is TRUE expression. I hope you guys agree!
